The Guilin Trip That Was Not To Be

This evening, at 20:35, I am supposed to be departing Sibu for Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia flight AK 5199, to catch AirAsia flight AK 102 leaving Kuala Lumpur for Guilin at 06:40 tomorrow, 16 May 2010.

This is not to be. I will not be able to find myself in the landscape painting of the karst and river of Yangshuo in the coming days. Instead, I am stuck here, in my room in PNG, lamenting about my fact and blogging about it. All this came about because of a conscious decision to relocate overseas to seek greener pasture. Travelling from my new home in PNG to Kuala Lumpur via Singapore would cost me over RM4,000 for a round trip. This is too costly for me now. Guilin has to wait until next year, when I am back to Sibu on vacation, on company paid air tickets.

I am again looking up the web to look for more information about places to visit around Guangxi, where Guilin is situated. I am redrawing my itinerary for Guilin trip. If my focus last year was on Guilin, Yangshuo and Xingping, this time, I am expanding my focus to include Longsheng Rice Terrace, courtesy of Life Is Like That for drawing my attention to this place. I am also looking up on Yangdi, Longsheng Hotspring, Sanjiang and Chengyang Wind-and-Rain Bridge. Hence, for the trip next year, I may spend two weeks on the trip.

May my dream of visiting Guilin, Yangshuo, Xingping, Yangdi, Longsheng, etc. be fulfilled next year.
